For our client, a very successful, listed international mining and trading company with its trading and export office in Zug/Switzerland, we are looking for a motivated

IT System Administrator


The IT Department is responsible for managing the computers, networks, ICT services and other technical areas of the business aiming at fulfilling the Company’s business needs, while also maintaining and developing the existing business systems, products, and adopting or acquiring technology to enhance profitability.

Main Purpose

The IT System Administrator will facilitate Head of IT in Zug with implementation of Digital Transformation initiatives. Will design, construct and maintain computer systems, mobile devices, communication services or networks and will be responsible for installing, supporting and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and infrastructure issues.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Active Directory Swiss sub-domain accounts: users, groups for File Sharing and Security
  • MS Exchange Administration: maintain the servers OS, perform updates and reboots in DAG topology with external balancer
  • Maintain Vmware Virtualization Platform & Hyperconverged server infrastructure
  • Maintain Backups Lifecycle (BackupExec): monitor, troubleshoot, update, perform restores, monthly tapes rotation to vault
  • Maintain Cisco Unified Communications: Callmanager, IM & Presence, Unity(voicemail) & Jabber+Expressway maintain/support for Zug & London office
  • Windows Deployment Services images administration
  • Data Center engineering - maintain hardware, cabling, environment (Cooling, Uninterruptable Power Supply, Fire-detection, Flooding-detection, Security) of 2 server rooms
  • Maintain physical/cyber Security and Printing/Scanning Systems
  • Remote support to London and Luxembourg office users (and visit)
  • Support IT change requests related to new users, changes, upgrades and moves
  • Maintain IT helpdesk requests (tickets) and IT assets database (2nd and 3rd level support)
  • IT equipment market research and acquisitions administration. Budgeting 
  • Perform maintenance works on various IT systems, outside of working hours (occasionally also in cooperation with Group IT specialists)
  • Escalate tier 3/4 requests to 3rd party services providers/partners and work on the issues to achieve their timely resolution

Professional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Relevant professional education and qualification in IT or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of and professional technical experience with Intel based Servers and PC/Laptops. Windows Server 2008 - 2016, Windows 7/10, Exchange, VMware, Networking (Switches)
  • Experience with corporate backups (BackupExec), Cisco unified collaboration, Endpoint anti-malware systems, “follow-me” printing, cyber-security systems, PowerShell scripting, MDS systems, Data Center infrastructure are considered a plus
  • Be able to diagnose, analyse and solve complex problems and demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written command of English is necessary. German and Russian are of great advantage
