Senior Sales Manager Railway Products

Our client is part of a major listed Mining, Export and Sales Company. The Group is among the top Steel producers in the world.



The Railway Products Department is responsible for sustaining and developing the day to day selling activities of rails representing the commercial interests of the Company. This includes developing sales strategies in line with the company's growth plan, identifying new business opportunities and building long-term relationships with the aim to maximize market presence and increase profitability.

Senior Sales Manager for finished steel products


Main Purpose

Reporting to the Sales Director Railway, the Senior Sales Manager will be responsible to promote the sales of finished steel products for selected overseas markets of railway products (rails) produced by the mills. This includes:

Key Responsibilities

· Development of distribution strategy

· Deployment of distribution strategy upon the head office approval

· Managing relevant marketing activities and participate to foreign exhibitions

· Preparing and managing international tenders including preparation of bid documents

· Point of contact to external sales team (local agents)

· Ensuring sales and distribution channels are developed and appropriately aligned with

distribution strategy

· Manage contracts from the offer to the delivery and return, of bank guarantees and after sales activites

· Participate when required to Factory inspections with customers

· Working in collaboration with all support departments and with Technical department of Rail department

· Enhancing products portfolio including new product development related activities in geographical regions




· Degree in Business Administration and/or Engineer Degree (Metallurgy)

· 5 + years solid track record in sales, supply chain of industrial marketing

· Expert in Steel / Railway and its market is mandatory

· Previous experience in working for steel producers

· Understanding of global and regional issues across Asia, Europe and Americas

· Fluent in English (company language) plus other languages desirable

· EU passport or work permit for Switzerland



· Understanding sales and marketing methodologies and in market experience developing and executing sales and marketing plans

· Understanding frameworks to evaluate macroceconomic trends and industry structures and evolution

· Clear view of the customers end use

· Pragmatic strategic thinking

· Understanding and appreciation of the complexities of different markets

· Excellent analytical skills and an intuitive sense of potential

· Ability to think and approach issues from a business perspective, bringing strong business and financial acumen to the role and using this to complement functional depth

· Ability to work effectively across functions and organizational levels internally and externally

· Ability to turn concepts concrete

· Outstanding verbal and written skills, with the ability to present data and conclusions in an organized, succinct manner at all levels
