Physical Crude Oil Operator

Our client is a leading international energy company with a strong presence across Europe. To strengthen its Trading team, we are looking for a motivated and hands-on Physical Operator Crude to support the execution of crude oil trading activities.

Working closely with Traders, Commercial Analysts and Refinery Teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of physical crude oil transactions in a fast-paced international trading environment.

YOUR ROLE

As part of the Trading Operations team, you will coordinate the operational execution of crude oil cargoes from nomination through to final delivery. You will be at the centre of daily trading activities, working with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure reliable, timely and accurate operations.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the day-to-day execution of physical crude oil cargoes.
  • Liaise with traders, terminals, inspectors, pipeline and rail operators, shipping companies and commercial counterparties.
  • Monitor cargo movements and ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Identify operational risks and optimisation opportunities while proactively resolving issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory positions and ensure operational data is correctly reflected in internal systems.
  • Coordinate closely with Treasury, Credit and Finance to support smooth transaction execution.
  • Work alongside Refinery Planning to align operational activities with refinery requirements.
  • Support month-end reporting, inventory reconciliation and operational cost provisions.

 



 

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Around 3–6 years of experience in physical oil trading operations or commodity operations within an international trading environment.
  • Experience with crude oil operations is highly desirable; knowledge of European crude grades and infrastructure is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; German, French or Swedish would be an asset.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, reliable and hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
  • A solution-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and perform well in a dynamic, fast-moving trading environment.
