Finance Manager 100% (onsite)

Our client is a well-established and internationally active commodity trading group headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, with operations and affiliates across multiple global markets. The company has built a strong reputation over many years through entrepreneurial thinking, long-term business relationships, and a disciplined approach to risk and financial management.

To further strengthen its finance organization, we are seeking an experienced finance professional to lead the Group Accounting and Financial Control function while overseeing key tax matters across the organization.



 

The Position

This is a finance leadership position with responsibility for the accounting, financial reporting, consolidation and tax activities of the Group. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of financial information, maintain a robust control environment, and provide leadership to the accounting and tax team.

The role combines operational responsibility with strategic involvement and offers close interaction with senior management, shareholders, financial institutions, auditors and international subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Group Accounting and Tax function, including direct management of the accounting team and close collaboration with tax specialists across the organization.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Swiss Code of Obligations (Swiss CO).
  • Manage and coordinate the Group consolidation process and ensure timely, accurate and transparent financial reporting.
  • Drive month-end and year-end closing activities and continuously improve reporting quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure the correct accounting treatment of commodity trading activities, including physical transactions, derivatives, hedging instruments and related financial structures.
  • Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes and provide meaningful management information and performance analyses.
  • Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance matters, including corporate income tax, VAT and transfer pricing topics, in cooperation with internal and external tax experts.
  • Monitor and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies and financial governance frameworks across the Group.
  • Support treasury and trade finance activities through cash flow monitoring, liquidity planning and working capital analysis.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to senior management by providing financial insights, ad hoc analyses and decision support.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide functional leadership and guidance to finance personnel within international subsidiaries.


 

Your Profile 

  • Advanced accounting qualification such as Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting & Controlling, Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance & Accounting, ACCA, CPA or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting, financial control or finance management role, ideally within commodity trading, international trading, supply chain or a similarly complex business environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Swiss CO and international financial reporting requirements.
  • Solid understanding of corporate taxation, VAT and transfer pricing principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor and develop finance teams.
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • High level of integrity, ownership and professional judgement.
  • Fluent in English; German and/or additional languages are considered an advantage.
