HR Manager
Our client is a mid-sized Commodity Trading Group, headquartered in Zug.
We are looking for a well-versed, hands-on
HR Manager 100% - on-site
to manage the local and global HR function (sole responsibility). This role oversees the full spectrum of HR activities across corporate and international offices including field locations.
Your Role
Strategic HR
- Develop and implement a cohesive global HR strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and international footprint.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing counsel on organizational development, workforce planning, and HR compliance
- Conduct a compensation and benefits benchmarking study for all field offices
Employee Support and Advisory
- Serve as the primary HR contact for approx.. 40 employees (globally approx.. 90 employees) at the Swiss headquarters advising on all personnel matters
- Act as the point of contact for 10 international offices supporting field HR needs and ensuring alignment with group HR standards
- Coordinate the integration of foreign employees in the Swiss HQ including relocation, permits, onboarding, and cultural assimilation
- Manage all HR processes for non-Swiss employees: work permits, visa applications, tax, health, and other insurances
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to navigate sensitive situations diplomatically and constructively according to the company policies and values
- Maintain regular contact with international offices including occasional travel to ensure alignment of HR practices and provide on-site support.
Recruitment and Talent Management
- Support, coordinate, and execute recruitment activities across HQ and field locations in line with management requests
- Assist in drafting job profiles and reference letters
- Launch a leadership development program for mid-level and senior managers globally
- Develop and implement a global recruitment strategy including role definitions, hiring timelines and interview frameworks in coordination with external agencies
Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop the Administration Desk / Switchboard team (2 employees), ensuring high standards of office support and internal service
HR Operations and Administration
- Full responsibility for HR administration and payroll processes in the Zug and China offices including system oversight (Abacus)
- Manage all aspects of Swiss compensation, benefits, social security and tax at source
- Oversee general HR administration across the organization, including reference letters, job descriptions and contract management
- Lead HR Group reporting ensuring timely and accurate submissions
Your profile
Profile Summary:
Experienced and hands-on HR professional with over 5 years of expertise in international environments, ideally in the commodity trading or finance sector. Trusted business partner with strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of Swiss HR practices and regulations.
Key Competencies:
- 5+ years’ experience as HR Manager / HR Generalist in international settings (ideally within commodity world)
- Proven track record in HR administration processes, including payroll (willing to handle operational tasks)
- Solid knowledge of Swiss labor law and local insurance frameworks
- First point of contact for local authorities (e.g., AHV, Quellensteuer, tax offices)
- Fluent in English and German at a business level
- Discreet, diplomatic, and highly trustworthy in handling sensitive information
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills across all organizational levels
- Able to navigate conflicting priorities with confidence and professionalism
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and cooperative working style
